Tuning in The Art and Science of Psychotherapy in Older Adults

This book encourages the psychotherapy provider to "tune in" to their patients, reminding providers of the crucial step listening to patients' concerns, hopes, and background plays into the success of a therapeutic relationship. To the editors, the concept of "tuning in" is "transtheoretical" so the opening chapters provide overviews of several therapeutic modalities and their use with older adults. Most of the other chapters take on common life challenges that patients bring to the relationship, while the final three chapters are examples of work the authors describe as infusing hope with positive late-life interventions.
